Mariners for Action (MFA) Conservation was founded in the year 2021 in Kilifi County, North Coast Kenya to promote sustainable use of marine ecosystems, resources, and their derivatives, and to combat community poverty. It addresses severe environmental issues like the widespread capture of sea turtles, illegal mangrove logging, and destructive fishing practices, which undermine marine health and local economic stability. MFA focuses on implementing conservation practices, restoring damaged ecosystems, and creating alternative livelihoods to reduce community dependence on unsustainable exploitation. This approach aims to sustain both the environment and the economic well-being of the communities involved.
